Don't forget to check the rear brake hose. Had a similar problem few years back where the rear brakes keep locking up. Replaced everything in the brake system except the flexible hose, turns out I had a small flap of rubber inside the hose that would allow the fluid to go to the brakes but not return.

I put a set of 07 Shelby seats (essentially the same seat frame) in my 66 coupe and another set of 06 seats in my 65 Falcon without much of an issue. I used the 66 tracks mounted to the newer seats, offset a little rearward on the seat for more legroom.

If one were to NEED the wedge kit because the UCAs were moved more than 1", it would make more sense and cost a ton less to just pie cut the UCA right inboard of the balljoint, bend the end of the UCA downward and then reweld it and add some strengtheners....

I ran the wedge with a 1 5/8" drop for about 15 years without an issue. When I decided to upgrade some other components, brakes, steering etc.. around the UCAs I had I did exactly this. Took maybe an hour to do both sides and eliminated the wedge. Opentracker had a good write-up on this a few years back

Seems that Ford decided to mess with valve shrouding back in the '80s, and they completely screwed up the 5.0 engine family for a year or so. Sounds like a project designed to ruin a set of heads for sure. Now, if the heads in your mind are already junk, no worries. It is just money, right? The last time I set about to improve a set of heads, I assembled all tools necessary to do the job, opened the first one, drank it, opened another, drank it, and so on until I was satisfied the heads were good to go. Never laid a hand on the heads. Thats called the "pop-a-top" method.

This had me rolling on the floor!!! I'm using this method the next time I come up with some "bright idea" to add to the list of projects I have just to get the car done...

You can do it but it takes a special tool. About $150. I bought it to do mine. It pulls the old one and installs the new one. It works very well.

Just did this n my 65 Falcon. Bought the tool Steve G bought, $165...thought it was ridiculously priced BUT worth every penny verses pulling the Trans. My vibration was right at 60mph. The movement on the yoke was minor but dissappeared after the new bushing.

I used a flywheel from a 63 Galaxie with a 289 that I had parts left over from. Just happened to fit. I did have it re-drilled to use a diaphragm clutch though. Take a look at late model trucks with the 5.0L, most should be an 11" clutch and a 164T flywheel with the correct 50oz balance for later (1981+) blocks.

I did this with both my 66 Mustang and 65 Falcon using 99 V6 T5's. You will need to swap the tail housings if you want to use the mechanical speedo. There is some grinding required on the housing to accept the oiling tab for the 5th gear cluster on later trans. I did it with a die grinder and some small aluminum carbide bits. The 96 and up T5 has the same longer input shaft that came about in 94, so you'll need a 94/5 V8 bellhousing to use the 157 tooth flywheel or use the V6 bell but it'll require a 164 tooth flywheel for the starter to properly engage (found this out the hard way on my Falcon).

You can build your own using the stock cross member. I used 1/8" wall, 2"x 2" box tubing for the ends, cut a side out for access, then cut the stock cross member to fit between. I did slot the lower control arm bolt holes for the SOT lower control arm camber kit I'm running in my 66 coupe.

If you want the center section of the axle centered in the car you'll have to shorten it and adjust the backspacing on the wheels accordingly. If you're not worried about it, it's a straight swap from everyting I've read. A few people have said there is some "percussion engineering" required on the passenger side floor pan for the driveshaft.
86-93 Mustang 8.8 is the same width as a 67-70 8" with no offset to the center section but you need Ranger 5 lug axles and is 28 spline. 94-98 Mustang 8.8 are the same width as well but with 1/2" longer axles (bakcspacing adjustments again..) and still 28 spline. I shortened a 98 Exploder 8.8 by 3.75" on the drivers side and used two passenger axles for my 66 coupe and wound up with a rear 3/4" narrower overall (wheel mount surface to surface) than the 8" that was in there. Helped me put the 255/45/17's in there without rolling the fenders.

Too bad...you're gonna hate that thing.  You'll be spending all your time thinking up stuff that needs to be stuck together.  No more stock parts, man.  Now you'll be thinking, "Well heck, I can just drag out my welder and fire up the drill press...a little bending, drilling, and welding and the part I make will be way better than stock."

Never a truer statement made... I love my welder but it has lead to so many "new parts" that my simple cruiser has turned into a 6yr project that'll be track capable when I'm done. What started as floors and a T5 swap wound up with floors, T5, hydraulic clutch setup with homemade brackets (95 T5), Cobra brakes, homemade roller LCA's, adjustable strut rods, homemade tubular UCA's & coil over setup (for two cars), 8.8 swap (shortened at home of course), vert inner rockers, Daze's designed sub frame connectors with jacking rails added, pulled engine and welded all the seams, Boss 302 chassis mods, homemade Watts link, interior refresh, etc... Damn welder, what the heck did I buy THAT thing for????
