I have a great suggestion! Can I put my car on a trailer and haul it to the bash? That way I can get all of you guys to help me finish my car.
Maybe I could start a tradition that every year at the bash we help rebuild someones car. We could start with mine.

Have I told you guys lately that I HATE Wiring issues?
The story continues, as we last left off, our hero was replacing his under the dash wiring harness because the old system known as "old sparky" went up in flames. This forced our hero to purchase a new system which he promptly begin to install. After many hours of conversing (using adult language) discussing each colored wire our hero thought that he had this situation well in hand, but oh no to his surprise when he attempted to connect the power source he discovered that he was not receiving any power beyond the fuse box. No gauge power, no nothing!
Any suggestions for the Hero?

I feel the same way. About two weeks ago I wanted to change out the bulbs in the dash for brighter ones. Took off the instrument panel replaced the bulbs replaced the panel hooked up the battery and the entire wiring harness melted. Sparks and all. Thought I was going to have to shoot the old pony because she went down. I am now having to replace the entire harness.
I can rebuild a car from the ground up but I HATE DOING THE WIRING!
I would pay someone to come over and finish my wiring problem just so I didn't have to do it.
Did I mention I HATE wiring!

I purchased this car last year thinking I would do something with it. It is in good shape. The guy I purchased it from started doing some work on it and then stopped. I have done nothing to it put put it under the shed. I would like to sell it for what I paid. I thought I would post here first and then if know one wanted it then on craigslist. I have several pictures.
2500.00 6 cylinder, 3 speed. I have other pics if interested.

Michael, Is this circuit breaker installed between the voltage regulator and the wiring to the firewall?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Burnt wiring » 3/28/2016 10:32 AM |
bad news and good news. Bad news, the wiring harness from the gauges to the firewall is fried. Also the harness from the firewall to the battery. Good news, Mommy wants to go for a ride very soon so she gave me the okay to order a new harness. should be here by this weekend.

Well I almost had to put the old girl down today. I was changing out instrument bulbs and replacing what I thought was a faulty fuel gauge when I plugged everything back in and replaced the battery cable smoke filled the engine bay and under the dash. I quickly removed the cable ( I thought I was going to have to stop drop and roll) but not before melting the wiring harness going the battery. The wiring in the dash was also melted but limited to the wiring going to the Amps gauge.
Would reversing the wires on the amps meter cause this to happen? Did I cause a direct ground.
Also what would cause my fuel gauge to suddenly stop working? I have a new sending unit and the gauge was working fine then it just stopped. Any ideas?

Most people do not realize that the majority of car companies and car names come from the designers and owners of those companies.
Would your last name make a good car name? Mine would sound funny?

I share pictures all the time of the cars that you guys post and my students love it. They are always asking about my car and when I plan on driving it to school. I told them the other day I needed to check out the posts on here and not to bother me or I would make them write a compare and contrast paper about Chevy's verses Fords.
I have already this year assigned a research paper about=16px Lee Iacocca.

So I am sitting here reading all these replies and checking the message board, when in walks my school principal and checks out my computer screen. He says, what are you looking at? I tell him about this website. lucky I was on my lunch break. WHEWW!!
He is very impressed and is now headed back to his office to log in. Because he is also a car guy.
A bunch of my students that were in here at the time eating lunch, (the boys come in and we talk cars) said coach you dodged a bullet that time.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » question about tighting up my suspension » 1/28/2016 8:11 AM |
I do not know if the problem is steering or a combination of both. As I am driving when I come across a rough patch the front end seems to want to just float. Almost like it wants to leave the ground. The steering is very easy to turn, almost to easy. There is no play in the steering, but like Jerseyjoe stated A little old lady could drive with just her little finger. I do not know if it will help but I did not change the sway bar and I will try replacing the bushings.
Is there anyway to adjust the steering box to tighten it up? I know someone stated try restricting the pressure to the unit. Any thoughts there?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » question about tighting up my suspension » 1/27/2016 10:53 AM |
I recently restored my 66 mustang convert. ( 289 ) and now I am getting to drive it on good weather days. The first thing I noticed was the front end and steering gave me the impression that I was driving on a cloud. I have power steering with a power steering box I purchased used. The front suspension is stock standard.
My question is: Does anyone have a recommendation as to what I can do (even replace) to the front suspension to tighten it up?
Should I have the steering box rebuilt?
What about a coil over or Mustang II front suspension?
