I had a customer call who has an S-code 390 68 Mustang who had put in the MS cable clutch setup.  He's ran across a problem.  The bellhousing is cast iron.  Has anyone found an aluminum bell housing that can be used with the 390 and a T5?

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Modern mustang 2015 brake boosters » 10/08/2022 7:24 AM

I looked at using a 2015 Mustang booster/mc in my 67 Mustang and the reservoir cap had interference with the export brace.  It doesn't look like you might have that problem with your export brace option, but then again, you might.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Modern mustang 2015 brake boosters » 9/23/2022 5:07 PM

I was working on trying to fit a 2015 booster and master cylinder into my 67 and it just was a no go; unless I wanted to delete the export brace.  If you're ok with forgoing the export brace then it'll fit.  But, then you'll have to address the issue of the fact that the booster needs a wedge between the firewall and booster so the booster won't sit at a steep angle.  Then you've got to drill the new bolt pattern into the existing stock pedal support.  It can be done, but there's a lot of buts . . .

Welcome, Tom.

I really liked that Kona Blue.  Cool story too.

I can't remember Alan if you had a booster or not.  If you do have a booster I'd suggest a 1" bore master cylinder.  If you're running manual brakes then stick to a 15/16" bore master cylinder.

Mike, the left door on the Heap came from a fastback that had been smacked hard right behind the B pillar.  The door latch had been pulled completely through the door shell, leaving a big hole.  Otherwise it was the best OEM door I could find.  I bought one of those back up plates, which miked thicker than the original steel, and my body guy cut away all the damaged area and welded in the new plate.  Then he sort of mottled the area to make it sort of look like the factory Sierra grain.

Wow! That's incredible.  You can't tell at all.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Cracks around bolt holes for latch on driver door » 9/01/2022 8:16 AM

I am trying to figure out the best way to tackle handling the cracks around the holes on the driver door where the latching mechanism.  I figure the more eyes and brains on it the better.
I could do just straight up MIG welding of it and grind it.  I'm slightly reticent of doing this because I'll lose the factory texture.
I could TIG weld it, except my TIG welding has a lot to be desired.
I see plates out there for sell that I could get that would reinforce the area, but not fix the cracks.
I could make my own plate, but the cracks are still there.
I'm open to ideas if there are any others.

Shnikies. I ditto the better now than halfway to Illinois.  Definitely want good penetration on the weld.  Crank that welder voltage up and go to town!

I'm getting up the gumption to start cutting up my floor pans.  I got the car back up on wheel dollies yesterday.  Next step is to move the car out of the way, make sure my floor is level, get it back on jackstands, etc.  Then I will be ready start cutting.  All of that to say, I sure wish I had a minisplit in my garage!

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Mustang Death Valley Challenge » 8/09/2022 8:59 AM

I'm intrigued by this idea.  With that said, it would help to have my car finished.

Is it a regularly scheduled swap meet like Canton?  Or was it a one time deal?  I could probably convince the wife to make a weekend trip down to Fredericksburg.

These days we're using the Ford Performance Parts clutch cables. I'd get yourself one of those.  We've had great success with them.
