Had mine out a couple of years ago. Really not a big deal. A couple of days down, pee in a bag for 10 days and once that’s out, you’re good to go.(diapers an option). Good luck

Well happy birthday bud. My 70th comes in January and like you realize that there are more days behind than there are ahead. (big sigh).

Thanks BobE. I did just that. A cheap 60# gauge for $9.00. 53,000 miles on the clock. 153,000 or 253,000 don’t know but I suspect 153,000

Thanks all. I will start with a real oil pressure gauge and see what’s what. Mark

No rapping I can hear. A little low oil pressure (by gauge in dash, gets lower under acceleration, goes up (marginally) under deceleration, seems like a (fairly) easy job, will give me an idea of bottom end condition, peace of mind unless I f@&# it up, inexpensive. See, I told you I have convinced myself with reservations.

I have to convinced myself that I should replace the rod bearings (/66 289). I am unable to remove the engine but can raise the car a foot or so. Is it possible to replace the rod bearings and maybe the main caps while in the car. As far as I know the crank is original. I have some mechanical skill so if it’s possible I could do it (he said just before,,,). I would just be going back to original sizing. Thanks. Mark

Problem repaired. I installed a switch from a /69-70 power drum. Hardest part of the job was wiggling out from under the steering wheel (I'm not a young man). Thanks to all respondents. Mark

Steve: I come to the FYI forum for all of my concerns. This forum seems relaxed, steady, and nonjudgmental ("you should of bought a V8" for example. It's just seems to be quiet, solid, and full of information. Not to mention your tutorials and replacement kits. Not a very good description but you get the sentiment. Thanks for providing it. Mark.......are you using the switch that is attached to the brake pedal?

As of now i am using the original /66 manual drum brake pedal mounted switch. Further down the post MS tells me that a later power drum switch has a lighter spring (just what I was looking for)

Sorry I am kind of late on this thread but, how the hell did Ford staple the little rubber mat to the fender apron near the positive post. I mean, what would that stapler look like?

Steve, Your right about having more fun driving slow cars fast as opposed to driving fast cars slow. I bought a 2015 Ford Fiesta with the DDC transmission and it is a blast to throw around. Can't really get out of it's own way, but it's fun

Ron: The only thing that I can think that the hole is for is to attach to a peg board. I don't think they would stay flat together for installation held together with a cable tie or string. Unless they are there just to cut out excess steel not needed. Hummm.   Mark

I put a regular antenna under the dash, between the heater box and firewall of my /66. I slipped a length of clear vynal tubbing over it first to stop rattles. Worked great.  M.
