That's right
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Rebuild price » 2/14/2017 3:16 PM |
I know it's a loaded question but.....I have a 66 coupe shell with doors, hood, trunk lid, fenders, glass, and clean title. It is a factory gt and has absolutely zero rust. It looks as new as a dynacorn new shell top and bottom. Give me a guess on how much you think it would cost without paint for pretty much standard original stuff to rebuild it. I know paint can be anywhere on price so don't count for that. Thanks
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Alignment and weight » 1/25/2017 2:11 PM |
I have a 66 fastback with Shelby drop that is finally going to paint a week from Friday. It is complete except it has no glass or interior. I planned to get the wheels aligned before paint to avoid the possibility of scratches at the shop. I called to set up a time and the guy said no problem but without total weight on car the camber could be affected. What do y'all think? Should I take it anyway or wait till everything is on it?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Car lower on drivers side » 12/07/2016 1:52 PM |
I cut both spring the same amount I thought but my drivers side is 3/4" lower than the passenger. Is there a spacer I can get or do I need a new spring? I have grab a trac 620's on a 66 fastback.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » What's this shell worth? » 3/10/2016 10:46 PM |
Thanks for the info. I'm looking to sell it not buy.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » What's this shell worth? » 3/09/2016 3:29 PM |
What is a good price for a 66 factory gt coupe. It is just the shell but has zero rust, no dents, and it's an original gt. Comes on rollers.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Paint under hood scoop » 2/25/2016 6:08 PM |
I'm about to weld in a gt-350 hood scoop on my 66 fastback. If I install it how does it get painted inside the scoop? Do I need to do something before I weld it?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Bond or bolt on hood scoop » 2/22/2016 3:43 PM |
Pic looks like it has a flange that goes out not in. Could I plug weld from the top?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Bond or bolt on hood scoop » 2/21/2016 8:22 PM |
I found and ordered a steel gt-350 hood scoop. Should I bond it or weld it? I'm just a novice welder. Does the bond stay strong forever?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Bond or bolt on hood scoop » 2/20/2016 4:35 PM |
I have a 66 fastback and like the Shelby hood scoop. Do the bond on ones crack around the edges? Do the bolt on ones fit flush on the hood? Any pics of bolt on installed? Thanks

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Decent paint shops in Dfw » 2/13/2016 2:40 PM |
I'm about ready for paint on my 66 fastback. Can anyone give me info on a decent paint shop in Dfw. I'm looking to drive my car not a trailer queen. If not in Dfw what did you guys pay for your paint jobs? Mine has no rust just ordinary dents and scratches. No glass, chrome, or interior. What do you think is fair?
Tips and How-To's » Easy way to connect ebrake cables with late model Mustang discs » 1/09/2016 10:19 PM |
I just noticed on your pic the ebrake mounting spot on caliper is on top. Mine is on bottom. Do I have mine wrong? 66 fastback.

On a 66 fastback one of the 3 nut type things that bolts the hinge to the side apron is stripped. Can you replace the circular part? It looks like part of the car. To remove the stripped one it looks like you have to make the apron hole bigger to pop it out.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » 66 speedo cable » 11/11/2015 5:52 PM |
Can anyone show me how the speedo cable is routed from the tranny to the cluster on a 66 fastback? What hole in the firewall do I use?
Thanks
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Solenoid yellow single wire » 10/10/2015 4:30 PM |
On a 66 I have yellow and black wires together that go to the positive side of the solenoid. Attached to that section is a single yellow wire with a bullet connector. For some reason my harness has no trace of this yellow single wire. Where does this wire come from? I know it plugs into the harness that goes to solenoid from the back. I know this wire should be there because I see it on a friends car.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Wiring question » 10/07/2015 3:27 PM |
I have a 66 fastback and am doing the wiring. I have 2 questions:
1. The wiring harness that comes from the rear left engine compartment and goes to the solenoid has a yellow wire coming out of it. On a friends car it goes to a yellow wire coming out of the brown/yellow wire coming out of the left front and heads to solenoid. I don't have this yellow (pigtail) coming from my front left. It only has a yellow/brown connected together going to solenoid.
2. I have an MSD 6al and MSD distributor. The 6al has 2 wires going to msd coil. My new harness has a red/green that's supposed to go to positive side coil. My dumb question is does it use both wires on positive side of coil?

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Rear axle brake line brackets » 9/03/2015 7:19 PM |
I have a 66 Fastback and installed a 9" rear in it. The housing doesn't have clips or brackets to hold the brake lines. How can I secure them? Can I tac weld some kind of tabs on the housing that is full of gear oil? Does anyone have a pic on how they did theirs?
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » front brake caliper "cover" » 9/03/2015 7:13 PM |
I have a 66 with original front discs and I am in need of the cover that keeps the pads in the Kelsey Hayes calipers. There is a small bolt on the top and bottom of this cover. Does anyone know where I can get one? The local stores have no clue. Maybe someone here has an extra one they will sell me? I only need one more.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Starting engine without wiring harness » 5/24/2015 7:20 PM |
It's an msd distributor so I guess I don't need the resistor right? When I bought the car it had all the wiring in a box and I'm dreading tackling that project. I'm debating buying new wires as well. Steve, I just want to see/hear it run to motivate me. I've been super busy with other stuff and putting this off.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Starting engine without wiring harness » 5/24/2015 2:04 PM |
I have a 66 fb and have installed a 351w, t-5, and 9" rear. The car is pretty much the shell otherwise. I want to start the engine just to hear it run and mark that off as an accomplishment. I don't have the wiring harness but I have:
New battery and cables
Starter
Solenoid
Distributor
Msd 2 coil
Msd 6al
Carb
Fuel lines done
Radiator and all cooling done
Exhaust
So what do I need to wire to get it started and how do I shut it off.

Yes, every time I go and try to explain something they say "what make and model" and they have there hands on a computer. Drives me nuts!
