FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Brake pedal low, Height adjustment? » 10/05/2019 6:31 PM |
Hi all been a while. Car was down for a few years. It's back up with Ford fuel injection and a full host off mustang Steve accessories from my last build with it.
My brother has a 65 and I have a 66. Both of us using Steve's booster/brake pedal plate setup with the pin correctly installed and a 2000 v6 booster. He has the Cobra brakes and I have the 2005 brakes.
Both stop great both are bled right. We both have a pedal though that seems lower then it should be. It doesn't seem to effect stopping, however I'm curious if booster or master has an adjustment that anyone has played with to bring the pedal feel a little higher when stopping
Thanks!

Back up for Steve. The entire firewall moves from middle of car all the way left. Rust free Virgin car. Moving right where booster and pedal assembly is bolted, and flexes entire firewall

Steve?

Firewall flexing at the actual booster assembly mount location, not the firewall adjuster area. He has the reinforcement plate pedal assembly too

My brother swapped 4.30s into his cobra act it still had no bottom end. I've driven coyotes, they don't have much torque at all either
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Cobra 4.6 into a 68 Mustang » 12/25/2015 11:20 PM |
Those were all cable driven. You should be able to just use mustang Steve's clutch cable conversion
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Cobra 4.6 into a 68 Mustang » 12/25/2015 9:39 PM |
Unless you're installing the supercharged cobra engine, it's a waste of time. The 4.6 cobra motors don't make any more power then a 96-01 ford explorer $200 junkyard 302 motor with a $150 cam. And you have to cut out the shock towers and redesign the entire suspension. If you're looking for a modern motor, the lsx Chevy is a much better option. If you must stay ford then coyote 5.0
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Resting your hand on your Shifter while Driving. » 6/17/2015 5:15 PM |
On a t5, the shifter sits directly in the shifter block, which sits directly upon a stationary shift plate and ball. The shift rail for 1-4 enter it horizontally. 5th comes nowhere near that shifter block. I can say 100% for sure at least with late model ford transmissions, resting your hand on the shifter will do nothing
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Choosing the right T5 » 6/17/2015 5:07 PM |
T5 conversion yoke isn't necessary if you have a c4, that yoke will work fine. You can easily build your own z spec for about $800 if you have a core. Right now I just threw together a normal wc t5 out of my spare parts and its holding great behind a 375 horse 5.0. FYI foxes came with 2.73 rear and a t5, it's not unuseable, just don't shift into 5th until after 55/60
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Manual transmission swap » 6/15/2015 9:54 AM |
I run the weaker t5 behind a 375 horse 5.0 with explorer 373 rear in my 66 and it holds up just fine. The t5z is not much stronger for what you pay, they're all going to break just the same when they break. The z is a nice upgrade if you otherwise plan on replacing most of the gears anyhow. The gearbox has the z kit for under $500. Don't play more then $100 for a t5 needing a rebuild, or more then $350 for a good used unit

Most reuse the original c4 cable

While their costumer service obviously sucks, their product is top notch. I did my research before hand, and knew exactly what I needed. I had 0 problems, saved a ton of cash, and couldn't be happier.

I installed the cpp setup. Must have been an eBay mistake when they set up the auction, as they're near me... I bought my kit in person and they all know that the pitman arm needs to be swapped out.
This box has done amazing quality. I spent under $600 out the door, and used a fox power steering pump. It's 13.6 quick ratio and feels as tight as rack and pinion. Its worked out so well my brother and two friends have bought the kit. Same quality as Borgeson but much less price wise.
Here are a couple of videos of my cpp setup

Runs and drives but needs lots of work. No rust that I've found but has some dents. $1600 current reg.

The gearbox has t5z kit $500, and summit racing rebuild kit just over $300. Don't pay more then $50-100 for a broken t5 those are called cores and not with much. The easiest way to id nwc vs wc is the large torx bolt for wc dr side top of case vs 6 sided hex bolt for nwc

I can build you one. I have a decade experience with t5s. You looking for something cheap or fully rebuilt
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » T5 Safety Switch » 4/06/2015 1:20 AM |
The pins ate usually never in there, rebuilders usually leave them out, as they really have no function in the fox cars. It's probably not working cause the pin is gone. The fox mustangs use a switch on the clutch pedal for the functional nss, I'm sure u could rig up a clutch pedal Switch to your nss

I always love the posts from those condemning peel and seal and similar, but have personally never tried it. As for the smell, most never smell anything, or if at all it out gasses quickly and never smells again.
I have original flowmasters with dumps and it's stupid loud, Loud enough to make my ears ring.
Over the past week i ripped out the old carpet, and covered the pans with lowes peel and seal, then added mass backed carpet.
The difference was night and day. I was hitting 80+ db at idle before, and now i hit 68-70 db, and that's without part of the rear pan covered and no seats, and with the thicker carpet
It quieted it down so much im in shock.
I spent $50. Do what you guys want, but it works.

The thinner Ford shafts create burn through on welding sometimes. I decided in my case a nice thick custom shaft would suit me for years to come. I gave the explorer shaft to a friend to use

In my case, Explorer drive shaft too long by ~2.4" when used with a T5 and a '72 N-case 9-inch on my '67. Custom rear coilover 3-link suspension might also add to the equation. I'm planning on shortening the Explorer driveshaft.
That strange fork thingie sticking out of the shifter box on the T5 is something I've made to move the shifter (modified to make it short throw) backwards, here's a video:
My bad, you're right, its too long. I took mine into inland empire drive line, they told me the aluminum Ford shafts are thin, but aren't designed to be cut down, and 50% of the time it ruins the shaft, so I just decided to have a fresh one made up.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » drive line choice for drivetrain swap from 95 stang to 68 coupe » 11/22/2014 12:07 AM |
Explorer drive shaft is too short by just under an inch when used with a t5 and 8.8. I had a custom length aluminum shaft made.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » HELP Pls..11" flywheel/351c/t5 and what clutch? » 9/24/2014 1:33 PM |
Helping out a friend. 351c going into a 67 coupe. He's going to run a t5 from a 2000 v6 mustang that has the larger 11" bell housing. He plans on running the oem flywheel
-I believe the oem 351c flywheel is 11" right?
-can we run a late model v6 11" diaphram clutch, or the 11" cobra/mach one 2003/2004 style clutch? Will an 11" clutch always bolt to an 11" flywheel, or does he have to run the vintage 3 finger style clutch.
Just trying to figure out what to tell him to buy to make this t5 work with the larger bell that we have. Thanks

Itll work fine with a 94/95 v8 bell, or swap the input shaft to the shorter one and use the fox bell
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
