Very tactful post. You would never know that your sitting in a Mustang.

You will be better off just taking the car to the muffler shop. Leave the PVC in place to show them what you want. I doubt that they would get it exact just trying to copy what you made. When they have the whole car they can fit it back in exactly.

Harbor Freight carries some great heat shrink in a nice multi pack. I purchased the stuff labeled for marine. What I like about it is that it has some kind of glue that melts and totally seals the ends against moisture.to keep this post Mustang related, I have been using it to rewire my 65 fastback.

Sorry, been kinda busy with Roundup stuff - did the Pony Trail to Roslyn yesterday - 310 miles round trip.... Did the Judged show today - so had no time to check the board. If you come tomorrow for the People's Choice show - look me up. Ask anyone for Ron Foster - I'll be there all day and then some. You gotta make that show - 60 early Shelbys will be there.

I've always wanted to see your car in person.

Same thing with mine. It looks like it supposed to rely on gravity. I ended up drilling a hole and installing a spring from the hardware store. It was tricky but it worked. I don't think I have any pictures. Also I bought a different set later on that were in better shape and the latches on that set work. I don't have them apart to see if something is different.

Just thinking it through while I'm at it, I'm not sure that I will though. I like the idea of being able to get the parts easily, and I was wondering if it might be a better set up with some small gains?

That's what I mean, can I just transfer the trigger so I don't have to Mess with timing and advance?

Since I'm in the middle of rewiring the whole car, I am thinking of doing this conversion. The problem is that currently I am running a stock distributor that I had the advance re curved for my motor. It also has the pertronics 2 and runs well as far as I'm concerned. Can I transfer the guts from a dura spark to my current distributor? Or do I need to switch out the whole thing?

I agree, Daze, for normal driving, a better ride is achieved with a softer spring.  That is why I like the progressive motorsport springs so much.  The harshness of the old school 620 is gone.  Thanks to Tubo for telling me about them.
I used some Gas adjusts in the rear with a stock spring and they were too stiff for me.  Like I said, everyone will have a different opinion on what a smooth ride means to them.

However, things get way different when you have alot of horsepower and the car can jump around alot more.  I have found a little stiffer spring up front (*but not as stiff as the 620) helps you to keep the car on the road.

I read somewhere that the progressive springs are unpredictable during hard cornering because of the variable spring rate. It made sence when I read it but it was just someone's opinion. I have been running stuff that I purchased during the 80's and have been very happy, but then again I'm comparing it to the stock set up that was like driving a slinky.
TMC Motorsports 620 with KYB Gas adjust shocks, and Grab a track mid eyes in the back that were purchased in 2005ish. I just replaced the rear springs because the springs sagged on one side by 5/8" inch. I replaced them with some Scott Drake springs and Bilsteen shocks that I purchased from Shawn at Streat ot Track. I am excited to see what difference the new shocks make when I finally get it back on the road. On another note the Grab a Tracks have a lifetime warranty that I could have used, but the shipping back to them was rediculous so I decided to deal with Shawn at SOT. as I'm eventually going with his front coil over system..

I did some horse trading to get my fastback painted about 10 years ago. Same thing after I get it home for awhile while reassembling it all these scratches showed up in the primer. Same thing he wants it back to cut and buff it. I'm thinking how can refinishing the topcoat hide scratches in the primer? Well I let him take it and it came back looking much better again. I knew it would never be perfect but I was into it cheap and after 15 years sitting in the garage I just wanted it back on the road. Let them re buff it and drive it again the only one that will notice all the flaws will be you and the people you tell. My car is all tore apart again to get new seats, rack and pinion, new wiring, repaint engine compartment and engine,on and on and on.I will put it back together and drive it. For now I don't care about paint. But in a year or two I will do all the body work myself and probly pay a friend to spray it.

Mustang Steve, I don't know if you are on mustang Plus's email list, I just received a email announcing some new adjustable strut rods that may interest you. I know you are looking to replace your heim joint strut rods. These are like the stock ones but are adjustable.

That reminds me of the time back in about 1983 I was cruising around in my fastback ( I was still in high school) when this dude approached me and asked me if I needed any parts for my car. The next day I met him at a farm and out in one of the barns was this partially disassembled fastback. I can't even remember if I bought anything or if the car had been wrecked. I probably could have bought the whole thing for a few hundred bucks. But heck I didn't need another one or would of had a place to store it. If I only would have known the future. Back then everyone wanted the convertibles.
I payed $500.00 for mine and 30 years later I'm still working on it, it's kind of a sickness I suppose. A good one though.

I have just begone installing a Ron Francis kit and I would highly recommend any of there products. It is a front loaded fuse panel and is much easier to add to later if you need. It's a ford generic not specific to mustang so you need to know a bit about what your doing, but has a great schematic and instructions as well as good tech support.Only down fall is the size, and finding some where under the dash to put it. I removed the fresh air intake on the drivers side and mounted it above the kick panel. I also made it easy to remove with just one screw so that I can drop it down for access if needed. I figure if I really need outside air I can role down the window or open the passenger inlet. Eventually I will be installing AC anyway. One nice feature is that it has 3 or four fuses that can be switched between on all the time or on with the key by just sliding them over one place. These are the kits that high end builders like my friend Tim Divers at Divers Street Rods and Greg Parsley at Retro Rods uses. Price is fair too.
