Question: replacing rubber and window guide on 65 mustang vent Windows. So after getting it out of door which was more of chore than I thought, and removing parts noticed the 4 rivets on one piece and two rivets on the bottom vent frame which I thought was securing the window guide. After removing rivets, it was obvious that it was not attached to window guide as there was no holes on the guide. So do I need to put rivets in those two holes as it does attach anything? Also it looks like I can use a regular rivet punch and forgo the 100.00 tool advertised by parts store. Is that possible? parts are on back order so I have some time before putting back together. Thanks for any advise.

65 Mustang Convert, 289, 3 speed. Going to do mirror tips to get a good tight seal and would like to redo rubber on vent window. Tried to remove when I updated interior years ago. So my question is: do I need to remove main door glass to get the vent window frame out. Last time I wrestled with the thing for hours and could not figure out how to get out, but I had left the main door glass in. So before I try again I am asking for some advice this time.  Thanks.

I have 14's on my 65 with shelbydrop and it rubs when turning and hitting bumps. Although I don't consider it major rubbing, I am constantly thinking about it while driving. I am thinking of possibly returning to stock. I thought about putting 1/2 inch insulators on top of springs, but I am worried that spring could move? That's my two cents on Shelby drop.

I had those same tires on my 09 Dodge 1500 with no problems and they are currently on my 15 Dodge 1500. I have not experienced any problems driving in rain or extreme heat. I really think problems are associated to how people drive. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for advice. I will probably start with cig lighter connection for constant 12v source.  I will use a test meter though so not to short anything out. It will be a simple stereo connect, no amplifiers, 6.5 ' kick panel speakers, and 2 small 3.5 in front dash. Has to be better than original AM with what looks to be original speaker??  I have changed mounting location from glove box and ordered TMI center console and will plug stereo in console.  I may change wiring that came with stereo as it looks to be very small I guess 18 ga.

Keeping AM in dash, but will disconnect. New stereo in glovebox and will connect new stereo power to current green/red connection which was power to AM, and black ground to black ground. My question is where do I connect new stereo memory wire to? I know it needs constant power what is easiest setup? Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for advice. I think will need to do what MS suggested. The new switch works if I rotate counter clockwise and hold it, but obviously does not stay in that position.

65 Mustang/289/MT/PS-problem-changed to front disk, new manual brake 2 bowl master cylinder. Every thing good up to this point. New m/c push rod slightly shorter about 1/4-1/2 inch. Install brake light switch and rear lights come on for split second only and stay off while Bpedel depressed. Changed out brake light switch same thing happening? Any suggestions?

I would like to share used front suspension parts that could be refurbished by someone restoring a 65 mustang. Original UCA, perches, springs. I removed ball joints, they were shot. LCA are in good shape and had been replaced at some point. Had same stock number as the moogs I replaced them with. I also converted to front discs and have single bowl MC and front drums assembly. Also have used leaf springs if needed. I just need to get out of garage and to someone who can use these to restore. I could not figure out how to upload pics, P/S me and I send you pics. Just pay shipping.  512-658-6152. Live in central Texas so if within reason we could meet up.

Congrats. Enjoy the time. I retired in 2011 and unfortunately  after 8 months could not handle it. Been back to work ever since but good knowing I can quit any time I want. Also did not have my 65 mustang at the time.

Got my 65 mustang/289/3 speed back from alignment shop. After new front end rebuild, Shelby drop I thought I had wrong springs installed. After alignment, all turned out well. Drop was 3/4 inch. My concern was just exaggerated because with the wheels were out of castor bad and that caused the front end to have an exaggerated lowering. Anyway,  Alignment guy said he could not get a reading to start with but managed to get it aligned well.  thanks for all advise. New question is this: have Low cost front shocks as in KYB/Excel.  the new ride is much smoother and I am just weekend country road driver.  What would be the benefit of upgrading to Koni or Some other high powered brand?.  Would it make any major difference?

Thanks for the info. When I drove the vehicle to the alignment shop, the front wheels were way out of whack this was through visual. Hopeing after alignment it stands up some. Also put new leafs and shocks 2 months ago which made rear sit up higher.  seeing the front lower than the rear, well was quite a shock as my car had the old rear end lowered look. I will wait and see what alignment guy has to say before any decision to replace springs. I double checked the spring I installed, which was a Moog 8088 spring which was a factory replacement spring for 65 mustang v-8. Steve your car looks great.

Ok- did i screw up! Completed a front suspension overhaul of my 65 Mustang/289/manual/PS. New open tracker uppers, Moog lowers, Moog springs, bushings and tie rods both side. Also did Shelby drop. When vehicle taken down off of jacks, car lowered 3 #%^* inches. The springs were standard replacement for 65 stand, but have a spring rate of 259. Did I mess up with putting to weak of a spring?  Car is now at an alignment shop and I will need to make a decision to replace springs before alignment.  Thanks for advice and go ahead a flame away.

All, got the spring rotated against the spring perch tab. Those rubber pads were a pain to keep in position. Anyways completed the passenger side UCA/LCA, springs,inner/outer tie rods, new rubber strut pads. Now off to complete the driver side. Thanks for all the advise.

Finished install of UCA/spring perch/springs and Shelby drop on passenger side of 65 mustang/289/3 speed. All went well except for seating of f spring on perch. About 1.25 inches from spring stop. Man I know what the answer is going to be, but is there a way to rotate spring clockwise without taking it all apart?  Thanks for any suggestions.
