Hope it turns out better than my rebuilt Holley, rebuilt by Holley.   Coating on the inside of the
float bowls flaking off, power valve gasket torn, needle and seat looked like it hadn't been changed.
Just saying...

MS, what do you recommend for this statement:
"AND THE BIGGIE FOR MUSTANGS - pedal adjusted too tight causing the bellhousing fingers to be overextended and bent the first time the pedal was depressed. There is a limit to the amount of travel that a diaphragm type pressure plate can take"    Would an 1/8" clearance (TO bearing to fingers) be too tight?   Or does it depend on
whose pressure plate you're using?

.  I looked into Bring a Trailer a little and I don't think this is their kind of car.  Everything looks shiny and polished.  This one is more like 'ol reliable-a little rough around the edges, but always there for you.

Submit it anyway.   Let them tell you if it's worthy of them.

Texas! has it right.  I swapped the 160t ring gear for the 157t one, same flywheel, no problem.  Used the
same starter, too.

I had a 160t flywheel on my 66.    I understand that a change to 157 was made to accommodate a
starter pinion change.    Val, were you having starter to flywheel mesh issues?   No need to change
the ring gear if you weren't having issues with starting.

Ok, makes sense.  I figured if they are on the same plane as the 'track' the car sits on,  shouldn't be a
deal.   I'm only 5'7".....-)

Is there room, or any advantage, to just keeping them horizontal?   I would think that might be less
of a danger to one's head.

Been there a couple of times but it's been quite a few years ago.   Had a great time and expect to do
a lot of walking.    The best deal there was free, air conditioned buses that went up and down
Woodward.    Get off and on at your leisure.    Sit in the back of the bus with the raised floor for a
great view.  Yes, it takes about 40 minutes to about a mile but.....nobody else is going anywhere fast
either.

I would have thought the driveway would be last.   I wouldn't want to have heavy trucks and machinery
on it and they would have done a great job of packing down the dirt.

That almost looks repairable.    Hydraulic press or bottle jack can be used to push out the pushed in part.
Unless there's a sharp crease that I don't see.    Nothing to lose.

I'm not sure what you can use as a baseline for 'improvement, or not' type of measurement; maybe gas mileage,
plug readings, I don't know but whatever you use, you can temporily block off the radiator to get the temp
to 195 and then use your measurements to see the difference.   Less messy than changing the thermostat, and
maybe changing back again.

I would try less anti freeze mixture, ie, 75% water, 25% anti freeze, with some Water Wetter.

If it's an oem sending unit, you might try to save it.   I managed to save one by soaking it overnight in
Evaporust.   I used pipe cleaners in the tube and rinsed and soaked again.    Eventually it began to work
and register ohms.   It's in the car now and works great.
