EFI, the computer keeps the fuel/air ratio near perfect - result? Very little gas smell ever.

I don't know if you've already purchased one yet but this seller is who I got mine from. He has been great to work with and fixed a warranty problem for no charge.  I highly recommend him.

The 1965 timing cover uses an aluminum water pump without a back cover - the timing cover itself is the back side of the water pump.  It is lighter than later versions and works well.

What was it like before the drop?

How much did it drop when you put the engine in? It should have dropped several inches when engine's weight was added. If it didn't you've got the wrong springs. I think I would just order some new (correct) springs.

From reading your responses I can't tell if the car has been driven after the drop.  Drive the car at least two kilometers and then measure.
Alternatively, just to get rid of the wheels being inbroad due to jacking and having the suspension decompress.  Just jack up and lower each side separately with the jack under the lower control arm.  Do one side then the other.

Just want to say +1 to everything Huskinhano said!

Arning/Shelby drop number one mod.
Then add bearings (spring perch and lower control arm, idler arm).
Then add stiffness (export brace, monte carlo bar, sub frame connectors, beefed up cross member).
Anti-sway bar(s) are a good add as well (1" front, and if you have a convertible 3/4" rear).
Disc brakes (at least fronts, for modulation control).

This is who I bought mine from.  He even wired it to run the idiot light for free.

I have 1965 289 it fit just fine with the stock hardware.  The seller will put on whichever pulley you need.

Can't beat his price or his service!

Hello,

I'm in need of help. Does anyone here have the Powerjection III (with spark control - Version 3) installation files (either the CD or the downloaded files)? When I bought my unit I just downloaded the files. Now I need to install the software on a different laptop. The program can't be moved (I've tried several moving programs none work) and Professional Products has taken down the pages related to the PIII unit (including the installation file download page - apparently they are no longer producing or supporting the product).

If someone could email me the install files I would be very grateful (jsharvey1961@comcast.net). Or if someone has the install CD and no longer needs it I would be happy to buy it and pay postage.

Thanks in advance.

I know it is not Mustang Tech - but getting the codes will allow me to get started on a Mustang project a bit sooner.  :-)

Anyway, if anyone knows of any discount codes please pass them on.

Thank you in advance.

Hi All,

Just a general question about Jegs coupons or discount codes.  Do any of you know of any?  They have a part (for my efi conversion) that I would really like to get, but I'm cheap and would really like to get it for a bit less.  :-)

Thanks in advance.

After more thought I realized I can just use the external pump that came with my Powerjection III kit.  The only high pressure part is the line from the pump to the PJ III unit.  A question for you guys - can I send the return line to the fuel sump or does that need to go back to the tank so the fuel can cool.  If this works I can do it for the cost of a sump tank, two feet of high pressure line, and two feet of low pressure line and I make no changes to the current tank and just keep the current lines and pump in place.

I think the fuel sump is a great idea.  $400 bucks though seems a bit much.  What would it take to make a DIY one?  Maybe use a Ford Contour fuel pump and re-purpose a "catch can" type of container to hold the fuel. Is it doable?

Well the back seats in these old Mustangs always have been pretty useless. - this guy figured out a way to completely get rid of the back seat.

It would be intersting to see how it would look with the bumpers and grille attached.

This is a guess, but if the woo-woo noise sounds like a water jug band then it has to be air flow related.  If it goes away after it warms up it most likely is because some metal part expands and seals a tiny gasket gap.  Manifold to head seal possibly?

Here is a great write-up on why the solution (if things are properly balanced) is to have exactly offsetting angles.

Just one nit picky note: Since your car is a 1965 you won't be able to tell if it is the original block, just whether or not the date casting are consistent with your build date (unless your car is a K code).

Is it a K code?  (Based on your answer about the color I got curious.)  If so I'm even more curious as I thought all K codes had disc brakes in front?

I'm in Riverton utah. Now I remember your from the vintage mustang forum you have the scarebird discs on your ride

Yes, my car was the test mule for the Scarebird guy to develop disc for the Ford spindles, my set is quite a bit different than what Scarebird is currently offering.

Lots of companies make conversion kits to adapt the roller concept to the old blocks, that is certainly an option.  Modern roller lifters are taller than the older flat tappet lifters so a conversion klit is necessary, that adds a bit of cost.
